Following yesterday’s shiny new poster of the man himself, today brings fresh footage of Marvel’s Luke Cage to further whet our appetites for the series’ premiere next month. Take a look below.
The new spot gives us a much closer look at Mike Colter’s indestructible hero, fleshing out the source of his powers due to a failed science experiment, while further establishing the gritty, hip-hop-infused tone showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker is trying to imprint on the series.
In the aftermath of his stint on last year’s Jessica Jones, Cage returns home to Harlem to deal with his past and hopefully keep out of trouble.
But when vicious crime boss Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes (Mahershala Ali) declares all-out war on the city and starts targeting innocent civilians, Cage realizes he may be the only person capable of restoring peace to Harlem.
As Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temples reminds him, “Sometimes, if you want justice, you have to get it yourself.”
Marvel’s Luke Cage drops on Netflix on 30 September, followed closely by Marvel’s Iron Fist and The Defenders next year.
