Though it has suffered more than a few setbacks on its way to screens, Bad Boys 3 is definitely still happening and will now be titled Bad Boys For Life.
The name change comes with yet another change of release date, with the movie now expected to land 8 January 2018 instead of 2 June 2017.
It’s the second time the movie has been pushed back since it was first announced in August 2015 when the movie was originally scheduled for a February 2017 release.
According to Deadline, the reason for the latest delay is because the studio has yet to settle on a production start date, meaning it would be impossible to have the movie ready for next summer.
The new title, in case you are wondering, is inspired by Bad Boys II’s infamous mantra “We Ride Together. We Die Together. Bad Boys for life”. And while that may sound pretty final, Bad Boys 4 is still expected to go ahead.
Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are expected to return for the belated sequel, with Smoking’ Aces’ Joe Carnahan taking over directing duties from Michael Bay – he’s a little busy blowing up robots, after all.
Long gaps between movies is not uncommon in the Bad Boys world – Bad Boys II was released in 2003, a full eight years after the 1995 original.
Let’s hope the new release date sticks this time.
