Bad news Colin Moran fans – The Living and the Dead will not be returning for a second series.
The first series ended on quite the cliffhanger when – spoiler alert – Moran’s victorian psychologist was visited by present day partygoers who asked him why he killed his wife.
Alas, it seems we may now never know the secrets behind his murderous intentions as the BBC have opted not to renew the series in order to focus on newer projects.
A BBC spokesperson told Digital Spy: “We are very proud of The Living and the Dead and would like to thank Ashley Pharoah and the fantastic cast and crew.
“However, in order to create room for new series and to keep increasing the range of drama on BBC One it won’t be returning.”
Launched on BBC iPlayer on 17 June, the first series of Ashley Pharoah’s spooky drama saw the past and present collide as Nathan Appleby (Moran) became caught up in terrifying supernatural events.
BAFTA nominee Charlotte Spencer played Charlotte, a pioneering photographer and Nathan’s wife, in the six-part series.
