James Corden’s bid to dominate American television has taken another step towards reality, with his The Late Late Show segment Drop The Mike being picked up for a standalone series by TBS
The 16-episode series will become Corden’s third US show alongside The Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke, another of his popular segments which is being turned into a standalone show by Apple Music.
For those unfamiliar, Drop The Mike sees Corden face-off against celebrity guests in an old school rap battle to see who can come up with the best insults.
Previous guests include Kevin Hart, David Schwimmer, Rebel Wilson, Cara Delavigne and Dave Franco.
Each episode of the standalone series will see four celebrities jousting with each other with the audience picking the eventual winner, with Corden serving as executive producer.
Drop The Mike is expected to air on TBS in 2017.
