Kiefer Sutherland’s The Lost Boys is getting a TV reboot

With The Vampire Diaries about to suffer a final stake to the heart after its upcoming eighth season, The CW suddenly has space for a new set of marauding bloodsuckers on its screens. A gap that looks set to be filled by a reboot of 1987 movie The Lost Boys.

The original starred Kiefer Sutherland as the leader of a local gang of vampires who try to recruit angst-ridden teenage brothers Michael and Sam into their undead posse.

The new take reimagines the film over seven seasons, each covering a decade, with the first run to be set in San Francisco during 1967’s so-called Summer of Love.

In an anthology style reminiscent of American Horror Story, each season will see the humans, setting, antagonist and story all change, with only the Lost Boys remaining the same.

Rob Thomas, the man behind iZombie and Veronica Mars, will pen the new series, but there’s no word yet on when it’s likely to emerge or if any of the original cast will cameo.
